CATCALL announces album release date + free remix! + Sydney headline show

The irrepressible CATCALL (aka Catherine Kelleher) will release her debut album THE WARMEST PLACE on May 4, 2012. Featuring much-lauded summer jam SATELLITES, the album is an exciting step forward for Catherine, who cut her musical teeth as frontwoman for Sydney art noise band Kiosk.

CATCALL will be taking it back to her live roots in February though as she makes a welcome return to the stage with a stellar new band. The all-star line-up includes Al Grigg (Red Riders / Palm), Andrew Elston (aka Toni Toni Lee), Bec Allen (The Fabergettes) and Simon Parker (Lost Valentinos). This is the band’s first headline appearance and follows their recent shows supporting Brazil’s CSS. Surf sensations ATOM BOMBS and garage gangsters BLOODS will be offering their support.

After having tracks from THE WARMEST PLACE placed in US TV shows like 90210 and How To Make It in America, CATCALL’s debut album is definitely highly anticipated. Boasting sun-drenched synths, a pulsing heartbeat and shades of light and dark, first single SATELLITES is a fair indication of what to expect from THE WARMEST PLACE. While it’s a long way from Catherine’s DIY punk roots, it’s still her to the core – attitude and sass filtered through the disco and pop sounds she grew up with. It was also named as one of influential blog Gorrilla Vs Bear’s Top 100 songs of 2011.

“a big, dramatic/wistful dance-pop anthem” – Gorilla Vs Bear
“a dramatic pop banger” – Rose Quartz

To celebrate the band’s first headline show, CATCALL is giving away a brand new, unreleased remix of Satellites by Melbourne’s Magic Silver White. All you need to do is ‘Like’ her Facebook page to access the free track: facebook.com/catcallmusic.
